Sabato 14 Dicembre 2024, SPAZIOC21 presenta – a Palazzo Brami, in via Emilia San Pietro 21 – la mostra “ARIA & FUOCO”, un’esposizione collettiva di opere realizzate da cinque autori di tre nazionalità differenti, cinque protagonisti di un’avanguardia artistica e di una vitale cultura metropolitana: EGS, Nuria Mora, 2501, Andreco e Aris.
Un sottile filo rosso lega tra loro le ispirazioni dei cinque artisti: il confronto con lo spazio, con la forma e con la materia. Aria e fuoco – due dei quattro elementi da cui i filosofi greci facevano discendere la loro teoria di costituzione della materia – hanno infatti forgiato il metallo di Andreco e di 2501, la pasta di vetro di EGS e la ceramica di Nuria e Aris generando corpi scultorei, elementi solidi ed opere di alto valore estetico.
Tutte le progettualità trascendono il formato bidimensionale della tela per recuperare all’esperienza artistica un patrimonio di competenze manuali, di arti applicate che combinano la sensibilità dello spirito con la manipolazione della materia. Da questa relazione tra intelletto e manualità nascono gli oggetti in mostra, tutti a loro volta legati anche a tradizioni artigianali e manifatturiere coltivate nel corso dei secoli nei territori in cui le opere sono state prodotte.
In Finlandia, per esempio, dove un collettivo di giovani artigiani ha recuperato l’antica tradizione vetraria concorrente di Murano dalla quale sono nate le misteriose e sinuose forme di vetro soffiato di EGS (Helsinki, 1974), uno degli artisti più promettenti della scena nordica. Oppure in Spagna, a Madrid - città celebre anche per le splendide ceramiche urbane realizzate per il Palazzo Reale – dove Nuria Mora (Madrid, 1974) ha sviluppato i prototipi dei vasi e delle colonne architettoniche che sono state poi realizzate in una fabbrica di Vignola, nel modenese. O in Toscana, terra delle maioliche artigianali plasmate e smaltate da Aris, che con i loro volumi curviformi richiamano una tradizione che affonda le radici nel tempo degli Etruschi. Vetro e ceramica non sono tuttavia i soli protagonisti della mostra. Tra gli elementi primari da cui sono ricavate le opere ci sono anche le leghe e i metalli, supporti nobili dai quali sono state ricavate le sculture ambientali di Andreco (Roma, 1983) che presenta forme che trattano il tema dell’acqua, della sua importanza per il pianeta e della sua scomposizione, così come i manufatti di 2501, che integrano materiale refrattario e fusioni metalliche dando vita a composizioni innovative, di design. SPAZIOC21 prosegue con il programma di residenze a Reggio Emilia, sostenendo il lavoro creativo di artisti contemporanei internazionali con radici nella scena underground.

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, SPAZIOC21 will present the exhibition “ARIA & FUOCO” at Palazzo Brami, located at Via Emilia San Pietro 21, Reggio Emilia. This collective exhibition features works created by five artists from three different nationalities: EGS, Nuria Mora, 2501, Andreco, and Aris. These five artists are prominent figures in an avant-garde artistic movement and a vibrant metropolitan culture. A subtle red thread connects the inspirations of these five artists: their engagement with space, form, and material. Air and fire - two of the four elements from which ancient Greek philosophers derived their theories on the constitution of matter - have shaped the metal of Andreco and 2501, the glass paste of EGS, and the ceramics of Nuria and Aris, giving rise to sculptural bodies, solid elements, and works of high aesthetic value.
All the projects transcend the two-dimensional format of the canvas, reintroducing a wealth of manual skills and applied arts into the artistic experience, combining the sensitivity of the spirit with the manipulation of matter. From this relationship between intellect and manuality, the objects on display are born, each also linked to the artisanal and manufacturing traditions cultivated over centuries in the regions where the works were produced.
In Finland, for example, a collective of young artisans has revived the ancient glass-making tradition concurrent with that of Murano, from which the mysterious and sinuous blown glass forms of EGS (Helsinki, 1974), one of the most promising artists in the Nordic scene, have emerged. In Spain, in Madrid - a city also renowned for its splendid urban ceramics created for the Royal Palace - Nuria Mora (Madrid, 1974) has developed prototypes for vases and architectural columns that were later produced in a factory in Vignola, in the Modena area.
Or in Tuscany, the land of artisanal majolicas shaped and glazed by Aris, whose curvilinear volumes evoke a tradition that stretches back to the time of the Etruscans. However, glass and ceramics are not the only protagonists of the exhibition. Among the primary elements from which the works are derived are also alloys and metals—noble supports from which the environmental sculptures of Andreco (Rome, 1983) are created. These sculptures address the theme of water, its importance for the planet, and its decomposition, as well as the works of 2501, which integrate refractory materials and metal castings to create innovative compositions and designs. SPAZIOC21 continues its residency program in Reggio Emilia, supporting the creative work of contemporary international artists with roots in the underground scene.
