STEFANO SERRETTA
(Genoa, Italy, 1987)
He's a figurative artist.
After earning a degree in Modern and Contemporary History, which fostered his inclination for analyzing historical events and exploring the languages, codes, and symbols of ideologies, he specialized in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Milan, where he currently teaches in the Public Art course.
An eclectic spirit, he engaged with unauthorized public art at a young age, developed a passion for American literature and poetry, and explored photography, drawing, painting, and sculpture.
His work is consistently supported by a rigorous historical and analytical framework, aiming to highlight the fragile self-celebratory foundations of globalized capitalism and the communicative machine that governs it, in which humans are both protagonists and victims. With an investigative gaze, he underscores the contradictions and schizophrenia characteristic of our post-ideological present.
He has exhibited in numerous public institutions and private galleries, including Talyer 15 (Manila, 2024),
Villa Arson (Nice, 2022), Galleria Laveronica (Modica, 2021), Museu de Aveiro / Santa Joana (Aveiro, 2020),
MAMbo (Bologna, 2018), La Triennale di Milano (Milan, 2017), and Galerie Papillon (Paris, 2016).
He lives and works in Milan.
